SELF Loan

The Minnesota Student Educational Loan Fund (SELF) program helps students who need assistance in paying for education beyond high school. The loan can be used only for educational purposes. Anoka-Ramsey Community College requires the FAFSA to be completed prior to the application of a SELF Loan.

Students may view their financial aid award information at Financial Aid Status and Awards.

Eligibility Guidelines:

  • All applicants must have a creditworthy cosigner who is a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be enrolled at least half-time and be making satisfactory academic progress in a program leading to a certificate or degree.
  • Not be delinquent or in default on a SELF or other outstanding student loan(s).
  • "New" Maximum Loan Amount $7,500 per year for the first two years. Effective July 1, 2006 with Phase IV applications. Minimum: $500. The maximum cannot exceed the cost of attendance minus all other financial aid that the student is eligible to receive.

Applications Steps:

1. All students are required to complete SELF Loan Counseling.
2. Apply Online (you must re-apply each year for the SELF Loan)
